The National Open Source Public Policy Research Institute is designed to create a working
government/academic/industry "think tank" to facilitate the understanding and development of
technical and socioeconomic policy with regards to public sector's adoption and implementation
of open source software. Policy Research Institute members will be recruited from leading
experts in government, industry and academia and challenged to address issues that impact the
needs of federal, state and municipal government agencies.

The National Open Source Public Policy Institute will host seminars, symposium and conferences
and produce related reports and publications to promote advanced thinking and policy issues
within government, academia and the IT industry.
